Today, when I read about the violence in Eastern Ghouta, Syria, my blood started to boil. I just realized that all of this started in 2011, and it is 2018 today, and still, the WAR IS ON! I have been wanting to write about this for a very long time, and I think today is the perfect day to pour my emotions out!

'A pen is mightier than the sword' and this seems to be the best way to channel my anger, at the moment.

A boom here, a crash there,
And heaps of loss everywhere.
It's been 7 years. 7 long years,
In this constant despair.

Tiny souls playing with their lives,
Hiding in the dark, craving for some light.
Huge bells and sirens start blaring,
And mothers start wailing…

A boom here, a crash there,

And heaps of loss everywhere.
It's been 7 years. 7 long years,
In this constant despair.

Markets and mosques brimming with hope,
Food for the starved, prayers for young and old.
Love and peace waltzing through the night,
Until the men in vests stormed into sight.

A boom here, a crash there,

And heaps of loss everywhere.
It's been 7 years. 7 long years,
In this constant despair.

The girl turned into an orphan,
The boy now with a handicap.
The man with a burnt face,
The woman with her dignity disgraced.
With suffering becoming their sole identity,
Life has become their prime enemy.
Some dull wishes were bound to come true,
As closer and closer the drone drew.

A boom here, a crash there,

And heaps of loss everywhere.
It's been 7 years. 7 long years,
In this constant despair.

ENOUGH OF PROMISES,
ENOUGH OF THREATS,
These are REAL lives we’re talking about,
Not your kids’ dolls and puppets!

Sucking life out of a child’s heart,
Ripping families wide apart.
This is not the world that a little girl dreamt of,
As she died in fear when the bomb dropped off.

You must end the terror NOW.
For these aren’t words of mine alone,
But the voice of one united globe.
Fight your political wars amongst yourselves,
But DON’T you drag these innocent souls down!

Syrians are known for their love and warmth,
How can you just throw them out?!
This is their right, their pride, their country!
How can you just strip them off their own identity?!

It's been 7 long years and nothing’s changed.
Death rates escalating, country deteriorating.
We are outsiders and yet we can’t take it!
Imagine the plight of the true blue Syrians,
Seeing their homeland with tragedy being hit!'
